Subanesthetic Ketamine Infusion Therapy

About Ketamine Infusion Therapy

Ketamine Infusion Therapy

Patients searching for a viable alternative to most conventional treatments for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and other types of chronic pain may want to consider Subanesthetic Ketamine Infusion Therapy. Ketamine works by resetting the central nervous system’s sensitization to pain, and unlike opiates, which make patients more sensitive to pain over time, ketamine restores normal processing of pain in the brain to provide long-term relief.

With IV Ketamine Infusion Therapy, ketamine is delivered slowly, intravenously, and at a subanesthetic dose. Treatment takes approximately five-and-a-half hours. Because ketamine helps quiet the brain during treatment, most patients experience a day of markedly decreased pain and relaxation. Each patient is personally cared for throughout their entire treatment by our experienced nursing staff: Pearla McDonald and Sandy McHaney.

Dr. Thunder generally recommends a series of eight infusions over several weeks.

Ketamine infusion therapy has also been shown to improve depression. The treatment time is significantly shorter — approximately one hour.

Thunder Pain Management was the first chronic pain clinic in the Reno area to offer Ketamine Infusion Therapy. We’ve been successfully improving our patients’ quality of life with this therapy since 2016.
