IV Ketamine Infusion Therapy at Thunder Pain & Wellness is a safe, medically supervised treatment that offers a viable alternative when conventional therapies have not provided adequate relief. We were the first chronic pain clinic in the Reno area to offer this therapy and have been successfully improving quality of life for our patients since 2014.

Ketamine is a medication with a long history of safe clinical use. At low, subanesthetic doses delivered intravenously (IV), it works differently than traditional medications. It interacts with brain pathways involved in pain processing and mood regulation, helping “reset” abnormal signaling for lasting relief and improved quality of life.
At Thunder Pain and Wellness, we use precise, subanesthetic doses. This means you are never "under" like in surgery; you remain in a relaxed, quiet state while the medication works to repair neural pathways. Each patient is personally cared for and monitored by our experienced staff throughout their entire treatment.
Infusions may help people with conditions such as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) manage persistent symptoms where opioids often fail. Ketamine works by resetting the central nervous system’s sensitization to pain, restoring normal pain processing in the brain to provide long-term relief.
Ketamine has been shown to produce rapid improvements in depression and mood for some patients who have not found success with standard antidepressants.
For those experiencing the widespread pain and sensitivity associated with Fibromyalgia, exploring comprehensive pain management approaches can be beneficial. Our ketamine protocols focus on addressing chronic discomfort and improving overall well-being.
Managing chronic headaches and migraines often requires a multifaceted approach. Our infusions aim to address the frequency and intensity of these conditions, offering new avenues for relief when traditional methods have not been fully effective.
Each infusion is administered slowly through an IV in one of our comfortable, private treatment rooms.
Most patients experience a day of markedly decreased pain and relaxation. You’ll rest during the infusion and be observed afterward before leaving the clinic.
IMPORTANT LOGISTICS: For your safety, you must have a trusted friend or family member drive you home following treatment. You cannot drive or operate machinery on the day of your session.
Experiences vary, but response often builds across a series of sessions. Many patients notice changes within hours or gradual improvement over time.
Insurance coverage for IV Ketamine infusion therapy is variable and typically limited. We encourage you to call us to verify benefits.
We also offer SPRAVATO® (esketamine) treatments, which are FDA-approved and commonly covered by commercial insurance plans and Medicare.
